Dr Chigurupati Nageswara Rao Ocular Pharmacology Research Centre
The Ocular pharmacology team at CORE examines the intricacies of ocular diseases, aims to understand drug interactions with pathogens, and to pioneer personalized eye care treatments based on these insights.
Central to this team’s work is a unique focus on taking eye care drug delivery from the laboratory to the patient’s bedside.
Principle investigators
Dr. Sanhita Roy is the Head of the Dr. Chigurupati Nageswara Rao (CNR) Ocular Pharmacology Research Centre at LVPEI, and her research interests are antimicrobial peptides and small molecules to combat antimicrobial resistance and aid in corneal wound healing along with understanding the host-pathogen interactions.
Her research combines various aspects of protein chemistry, biophysics, cell biology, molecular biology and immunology.
Dr. Gowtham Lakshminarayanan focused on understanding the pathophysiology of glaucoma and identifying novel biomarkers to establish personalized treatment strategies using high-throughput mass spectrometer-based multi-omics and pharmacogenomic approaches.
At LVPEI he is working to discover novel drug candidates and developing innovative ophthalmic formulations for bacterial, fungal, and parasitic ocular infections.
