LVPEI’s mission is to provide equitable and quality eye care to all sections of society. There are over 50 lakh people with blindness and nearly 3.5 Crore people with vision loss in India—the true numbers may be even bigger.
We have the ambition to be a beacon of excellence in every aspect of the complex problem of vision loss: from clinical care to training, and outreach. For the loss we cannot fix today, we offer rehabilitation. And for those we will fix tomorrow, we invest in research and innovation.

Reading aloud books, helping people with vision impairment write exams—a lot is possible with your time. We need volunteers who are willing to commit 2-3 hours a week. Find out more.
We are grateful for all kinds of in-kind support that contributes to our work. We receive medical equipment, logistical support, media space or financial services. For Example, Air India supports transport of corneal tissues across India.
A memorial or a tribute is a meaningful way to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have moved on. At LVPEI we have an opportunity for you to name examination rooms, waiting lounges, wards, operating theatres, and many more.
