Capacity building

Through the Gullapalli Pratibha Rao International Centre for Advancement of Rural Eye Care (GPR ICARE), the team at LVPEI has devised end-to-end capacity building programmes that addresses the need for strategic and technical assistance to establish standardized systems of patient care, hospital management, and community eye programs in areas where they are needed.

The Accompaniment Program

This is LVPEI’s four-year need-based consulting program.
By working with partner agencies, mentees, and development agencies, in the context of their communities, we aim to design eye care solutions that meet the highest standards of equity and excellence.

Infrastructure and Equipment Planning

As partners, receive guidance on the detailed technical and feasibility aspects of your infrastructure. Our team will work closely with architects and contractors to ensure smooth implementation. Receive support with the selection equipment and renegotiation of prices for all your infrastructural needs.

Human Resource Development

Receive support in identifying and planning the human resources of your facility. Our team will help bring in clinical, para-clinical, and administrative personnel to manage the broad spectrum of operations. This ranges from community mobilization and patient handling to clinical and post-clinical services.

Financial Stability and Quality Assurance

Establish key standards and systems that will strengthen your documentation, quality control, and clinical outcomes. Our team will also help implement business strategies like cross-subsidization and revenue generation. From corrective eyewear to enabling long-term financial sustainability, you will be able to ensure equitable access to care.

Continuous Community Eye Care

We partner with you to implement LVPEI’s pyramidal model of service delivery for community eye care programs by mobilizing local participation, encouraging community ownership, and ensuring continuous research to measure and improve the impact of interventions.
