The LVPEI approach to innovation brings together engineers, ophthalmologists, and optometrists binding, them together with ‘design thinking’ in the service of patients. The LVPEI pyramidal network of eye care with its high-quality eye care facilities bring millions of people under its ambit. This makes the LVPEI network a population-scale model, with the potential to take eye care across geographies.

Coupled with LVPEI’s vision of providing eye care to all, irrespective of the patients’ ability to pay, technology innovation plays a key role in building access to eye care. Technology and innovation are also key to solving seemingly insurmountable issues of access or imaging.

The Innovation arm at LVPEI has been making long-term investments in a variety of technologies and ideas that have the potential to improve eye care service delivery, access, or even the cost of eye care. The three key priority areas remain Product Innovation, Product Re-engineering, and Incubation Support.
