Biography
Dr. Anshuman Verma completed his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences at Aravind Eye Hospital, affiliated with Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu. He furthered his expertise through national postdoctoral work at Narayana Nethralaya in Bangalore and international postdoctoral experience at the University of California, San Francisco, USA, establishing a strong foundation in eye care and research.
With prior roles as a scientist in ‘MNR medical college’ and collaborative engagements at LVPEI, Dr. Verma’s impactful contributions are evident in securing CRG grant from SERB-DST, and numerous publications within the Ophthalmic Genetics domain.
Currently, Dr. Verma’s research focuses on the diagnosis and screening of genetic ocular disorders and translating genetic insights into meaningful translational outcomes. One such translational project, currently being initiated, focuses on CRISPR-based gene editing of SLC4A11, a gene associated with congenital hereditary endothelial dystrophy (CHED). His overarching goal is to advance the diagnosis and understanding of genetic ocular disorders and contribute to the development of regenerative-based treatments.
