Continuous efforts by the doctor and the patient results in success of corneal grafting
Published 8th April 2019
“A failed corneal graft is not the end. There is always a possibility to repeat the corneal transplant the second time for better results.” This what TKCI faculty Dr Somasheila Murthy explained to one of her young patients who underwent transplant surgery. And true to her words, the surgery was a success the second time. Mukesh, who was a businessman by profession suffered from severe fungal infection due to dust entering his eyes. After the surgery failed the first time, he was disheartened. It was strenuous from him both emotionally and financially. But Dr Somasheila did not let him lose hope. Also, she ensured that the services were made more affordable for him. Today Mukesh has resumed his work and very diligently comes for all his follow-up sessions. Once when his stitches became loose, he immediately rushed to the hospital and received prompt care. He is happy today that his life is finally getting back to normal and is once again hopeful for a better future.
